Here are some new pics. My hair is growing and changing. I'm really loving it! I'm at work in the photo's LOL!! yeah I should be working but I'm taking pics of my hair and getting co-workers in on the job also. My hair is 19 months old now. I look at some of my olds pics and I'm like wow, my hair has really grown. I mean I had practically no hair in the back and the little I did have was so damaged. I'm so grateful to have found Sl's.

People compliment me all the time and I'm just so proud because when I fried, dyed, and weaved my hair I didn't get nearly as many compliments. Back then I hid behind my hair. I felt those styles made me beautiful. Today i know that this is all me and I'm loving it.

Hello everybody,

I've been away for almost a year. My what changes times bring. I was so caught up in what was going on in my world I totally didn't notice all the time that has passed.

My locks are 18 months old. They are healthy and I love them more each and every day. I'm going to be posting some pics over the next few days. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera for a while then my computer caught a virus and I lost a lot of my pics so I can't take you through the months but I will snap some updates shots.

1.) I have two siblings an older brother 25 and a younger brother 14. My older brother and I were so close when we were younger because it was just the two of us for such a long time. Needless to say, we were not happy when my mom decided to bring home another kid. LOL!! But we love him now ;)

2.) I have a six year old son name Lamarr. I had him when I was 17 which was extremley young but I vowed to not let that hold me back. It's my mission to give him a better life than I had.

(The last pic: He was disruptive in school so I made him write a punishment paper. He cried so long he fell asleep. LOL!!)

3.) I recently graduated from college and I am going to miss my friends so much. Some of us are still on campus and I cry even now because I can't believe it's over. BTW I graduated with honors. So young moms WE CAN DO IT!!

4.) I love moving to new places and meeting new people. PA is the third stated that I have picked up and moved to. Now I'm in the process of trying to move to MD. I'm just waiting on a job to come through. Then I'll be there!! I'm very excited to do it.

5.) I decided to get Sisterlocks almost a year ago after I was talking to one of my friends that I met at school who has sisterlocks. I woke up one day and decided I would not get another perm. Then after talking to her I said I'm getting locks and i waited three months to grow my hair out AND SAVE UP THE MONEY hehe!! This has been the best decision I have made. Below, the friend who introduced me to Sisterlocks.

New Hair Style

I have been getting very tired of wearing just a braid out. Since I still have some permed hair on my ends I do not like the way may hair looks when it's not crinkled. I was debating cutting my ends a few months back but I decided to wait it out. So I was on you tube and looking at various locked blogs and I decided to do this hair style.
I like it. For some reason I have always been afraid to wear my hair in an up-do. Mainly because the back of my hair was damaged but also because I didn't think my locks were long enough. Now I'm just like I need to experiment as much as possible because my hair is changing so quickly and I need to appreciate each stage.

As I was running my fingers through my hair (Yes I suffer from hand-in-hairitis) I felt something. It was fat, thick and and and ROUNDED!!! I was so excited I felt like jumping up and down. Five months into my SL'S and I have my first lock with a full ball on it.

I have to admit I feel like a dork when I get this excited about my hair. My friends kinda look at me like Ok she's really bugging out LOL!! I can't help it though it's cool to watch my hair go through these stages.

Hey everyone,
As I have mentioned before I have some perm on the ends of my locks. When I installed them I cut some length off because I really wanted to start with all natural hair. In the end my consultant said its probably best to leave some perm on the ends.
Here's the thing I love the way ends look when they are thick and rounded. I'm worried that when I cut my permed ends off the balls that are suppossed to form won't. I have some locks in the back that's already forming with the balls however, my hair was so short in the back it was mostly natural. The middle of my hair with the most perm is not really doing anything. So I'm worried my locks won't turn out the way that I want them 2!!!! To get a mental picture Kalia-Dewdrop and cheleski68 -Lockin and Poppin (hope you guys don't mind me using your names)have the thick ends that I would like.

Retightened AT LAST!!

As you can see from my last pics I was in desperate need for a retightening. Due to finances and the holiday season I went 2 months without a retightening. The pics show the side, back , and front of my hair. They're always so stiff for the first few days so I try not to style them or I'll end up with a headache for the entire day.
I have been braiding my hair to get the crinkly look because I don't like the way my hair looks when it's straight. Mainly because I still have some perm on my ends. I have read some other blogs and a lot of people curl their hair with rollers. I would love to do it but I think my hair is too short to pull the look off. What do you guys think? Should I try it at least?

Happy New Year everyone.
Well it's been a while since I last updated. I've been locked for four months now and I am serious when i say everyday I fall in love with my locks a little more. I'm starting to see the changes as some of them lock up, some unravel, and others look the same. All in all I'm loving it though. I'm not even tripping over length anymore. Don't get me wrong I CAN"T WAIT FOR THE LENGTH!!! But I'm having such a good time watching it transition.
I went home (CT) over the holidays and I got mixed reviews concerning my hair. Most people kind of looked at me sideways and said the usual "Why did you do that to yourself?" I look at them the same way and say," what did I do?" They kind of laugh it off after that. I say hey u don't have to like it because I love enough for the both of us!!
How about this one, "You don't really have dreads they are just tiny braids you got jipped." When you do something different people always try to find a way to put you down. I don't discriminate locks are locks I have come to appreciate each and every method but I chose the sisterlock method for myself and I have NO regrets.
I love being a LOCKED DIVA!! ;)

By the way I'm on my way to the gym in the pics and I wear a stocking to pill my hair back.

Okay, there is no doubt that I am in love with my locks however, today I fell in love with my locks on a whole other level. Yesterday I got my hair retightened and right after I went and looked in the mirror was amazed. I never knew that I could love my hair so much. It's sooooo soft. LOL!! I never thought I would ever be able to describe my hair as soft. Never Eva!

I'm curious to know why people decided to lock their hair. I decided to lock my hair mainly as a resistance to the Eurocentric beauty standard. When I was wearing all the hair weaves and perming my hair every month I was really trying to conform to the beauty standard. I thought it was time to live natural and love myself. I would love to hear why others decided.

Two Months Sisterlock'd

I went to a new loctician this month. My old loctician was good but my new loctician is a lot faster which translates into being a lot cheaper. I'm a student so my money needs to stretch. She's really good because the back of my hair kept on slipping with my old loctician and I haven't had any slippage yet.

She also told me to start braiding and banding differently which has helped.
One problem I am having now; my hair seems to be very dry. I have a lot of dandruff that I can't seem to wash out. I don't know what to do!! I've never had a problem with dandruff before. I know I can't use a moisturizer on my hair. Does anyone have advice??

My hair is short in the back so towards the end of the month there was major slippage. I'm going to a new loctician in a few days and I'll see what she says.

Otherwise, I am still in love with my hair!!!

YESSSS!!! I've been sisterlock'd for a month now ;)) I am seriously in love with my hair. My hands are constantly in my hair feeling around just loving the tight curls. I've had my first retightening and I lov'd the results. I knew after that I could never go back to perms and weaves. I HAVE BEEN LIBERATED!!! I love looking at myself all natural. I feel beautiful just looking at me. Nothing added.

I was walking around the hair products aisle the other day (out of habit) all of a sudden I thought I don't need any of this stuff anymore and I instantly became so happy. I used to be that person who would walk out a store with like $50 worth of products. I just smiled and walked away ;)

I'll update with the pics shortly I let one of my friends borrow my cam.

Sisterlocks birthdate: September 1-2 2007. The install took 17 hours and boy was I happy when it was over. My loctition was very nice and ospitable but I just could not sit any longer.

Hi,

I'm Journeii and I'm new to the Sisterlocks community.I'm 23 years and in my senior year of college. I'm a Psych and Sociology double major and still very much confused as to what I would like to do career wise. I would like to be a professionsal student ;)) But I don't think anyone is hiring for that position.LOL!!
I am definately locked and loaded. I am very much satisfied with my hair and ready to snap pics of the progress that's underway!!!!
